A study led by OHSU and Portland State University finds cancerous vocal fold lesions could exert a subtle influence over the sound of a person's voice, which could help catch laryngeal cancer earlier than current methods; Philip Jenkins, M.D. says: “To move from this study to an AI tool that recognizes vocal fold lesions, we would train models using an even larger dataset of voice recordings, labeled by professionals. We then need to test the system to make sure it works equally well for women and men.”

OHSU Receives NIH Grant for Artificial Intelligence Assisted Panoramic Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography for Retinopathy of Prematurity

OCT News reports that OHSU and principal investigator Yifan Jian, Ph.D., have received a $625,000 award from the National Institutes of Health to determine whether optical coherence tomography and OCT angiography might lead to more accurate and objective diagnosis, earlier intervention and improved outcomes in cases of retinopathy of prematurity.
