The use of dosing changes in some immune checkpoint inhibitor drugs, Alison Palumbo, Pharm.D., says: “As pharmacists, we really care about whether the dose of a drug correlates with efficacy and toxicity. Ipilimumab is unique among these drugs in that its dosing does correlate with safety and efficacy. At a higher dose, you get more toxicities, but the drug is also more effective. That’s not necessarily the case with the PD-1 and PDL-1 inhibitors."
