Beaverton physician assistant accused of sexually abusing patient

A physician assistant in the OHSU Immediate Care Clinics is indicted for sex abuse by a Washington County Grand Jury, following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior during a medical exam at the Beaverton clinic. The PA was placed on leave and his access to OHSU patient information and facilities has been terminated.

A study published in the journal BMJ Sexual & Reproductive Health finds that a menstrual disc holds up to twice as much period blood as a tampon or a pad. Lead author Bethany Samuelson Bannow, M.D., says of the study, “We have noticed that a lot of folks — particularly those with heavy periods — are moving toward cups and discs, and we realized we don’t really have a good metric to diagnose heavy bleeding utilizing those methods, as all the currently available methods are dependent on pads and tampons.”
