New OHSU Knight Cancer Institute mobile outreach van delivers cancer education, prevention resources to people across the state

KCI van_skin cancer screenings

The OHSU Knight Cancer Institutes mobile outreach van delivered free skin cancer screenings and resources at a community health fair in Salem. Sancy Leachman, M.D., Ph.D., and members of the Latino Medical Student Association and Dermatology Student Interest Group at OHSU provided skin cancer screenings and prevention information. More than 200 people attended the annual event and received information about the institutes community health education resources, the Healthy Oregon Project and Start Seeing Melanoma. (OHSU)

KCI van at the Melanoma Walk

The mobile outreach van joined the 10th Annual Steps Against Melanoma walk in Portland on Sunday, May 21, and provided space for Sancy Leachman, M.D., Ph.D., and members of the Dermatology Student Interest Group at OHSU to offer free skin cancer screenings for interested participants. Walk participants also received health information about HPV vaccination as cancer prevention, colorectal cancer screenings, and the Healthy Oregon Project, a no-cost cancer early detection research study.
