The OHSU Center for Ethics in Health Care is expanding its focus on compassionate communication that began with teaching medical students how to deliver difficult news to patients and families. In a Center for Ethics video, Ian Jaquiss, J.D., pictured, interim coordinator for the Americans with Disabilities Act in the OHSU Department of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity, played a man with terminal cancer (he does not actually have cancer), co-staring with a provider to model respectful communication with patients with a disability.
